In this video, Dr. Berg interviews a guest, Dr. Linda Lagemann a Clinical Psychologist for 25 years and an associate professor in a top medical school.

Dr. Eric Berg: You are an excellent student, top of your class, respected by your peers, successful full practice, and all these committees, these boards, 6 years post-PHD training, this is a lot of training. And then you closed your doors. Tell me why..

Dr. Linda Lagemann: I had my eyes open, I think it just took one too many times of having somebody come in to see me like a regular person on psychiatric drugs and not doing well, in fact doing worse and worse. And the people I saw by the way, these were not people whose hearing voices like severe. These are regular people actually high professionals top of their game, financial industry and it was just one too many times of somebody saying how they are feeling disconnected, the relationship is not starting to suffer that didn’t have the problems before because they just felt emotionally disconnected.

One guy that really got to me was telling me about his 2 year old and 4 year old and come home from work, It used to be the joy of his day to come home and play with his kids on the living room carpet and he said he was just going through the motions and he didn’t feel any connections with his kids. And that was the drugs and then he did the whole thing slow, and people have to be careful coming off the drugs and felt fine. But anyway that just happens too many times. The other thing is,

“The whole field is turned into labeling and drugging. That is just really the primary thing that’s happening now. And all of that training was a lot of different theories, meaning like a lot of different ways of describing “what is” and then theories about “why that is?”, but not really effective things to help what is.”

Dr. Eric Berg: Wow. So I have a question, in that training which is a lot of training, how much training do you get in basic food therapy or diet connection to your mood?

Dr. Linda Lagemann: None.
