Dr. Berg explains what Betaine Hydrochloride is and how to use it. It is a natural compounds or a natural amino acid found in beets, spinach, beef and shrimp. It is really important when you have a condition called SIBO or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth because one of the functions of the strong stomach acid is to prevent pathogens and unfriendly microbes.

Betaine HCL is used to increase the acid of the stomach to improve the absorption of vitamin B12, minerals, trace minerals, proteins and kills pathogens. It is also a great remedy for GERD and acid reflux. Make sure to not take calcium at the same time while taking Betaine HCL because it will neutralize the acid.
